CONTEXT “Plum Rain” is an exhibition by Japanese artists Kenji Ide and Yuki Kimura, located in Tokyo, Japan. This collaboration between the two artists explores the mix of different emotions the rainy season, tsuyu, may bring. Long periods of rain may evoke both emotional highs and lows, allowing us to feel somewhat sentimental.
CONCEPT Cinematic, and film-like. Japanese vintage movie/documentary. Follows a script. Gradients- toned down hues of pink and yellow. Slight shades of purple. Overall warm tones
POSTER Font used: Courier New for script text and location/artist information. 細明體_HKSCS used for title identity and Kanji characters on bottom left hand side. Poster variations contain close-up view of artist work.

VIDEO I took a cinematic approach to the exhibition trailer, using stock videos found on the internet along with some of my own footage. I created a script that the trailer would follow, which my friend aided in translating to Japanese and then providing a voiceover. This was created in Premiere Pro CC.
PUBLICATION/CATALOGUE I aimed to create a catalogue that at first glance mimics a script. Playing with typography, I explored composition and the relationship between the Japanese and English language. Filters were placed in between selected pages to create a sense of intimacy and literal transparency. I used the a comb binding to put the catalogue together.
